Sarah Humeniuk
Sarah Humeniuk is a retired Australian ballerina whose international career spanned over 20 years. She was a soloist for Royal Ballet, and guest artist for English National Ballet, Birmingham Royal Ballet, and Paris Opera.
A graduate of the Royal Ballet School in London, Sarah’s remarkable journey began at the tender age of four when she discovered her love of dance and commenced lessons at the esteemed Susan Taylor School of Ballet Adelaide. Throughout childhood, Sarah demonstrated dedication and aptitude, achieving honours in all her Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exams, including advanced and solo seals. At age 15, Sarah's talent was internationally acknowledged when she was offered a coveted place at the Royal Ballet School in London.
Following her graduation, Sarah enjoyed performed with many renowned ballet companies and had the distinct honour of collaborating with luminaries in the dance world, including Dame Margot Fonteyn, Mikhail Baryshnikov, and Christopher Wheeldon OBE (An American in Paris, Like Water for Chocolate, Alice), Lucinda Dunn OAM, Adam Blanch, and Ross Coleman.
In her late twenties, Sarah expanded her artistic repertoire, venturing into the realm of musical theatre and performed in the Australian productions of Shout, My Fair Lady, and Joseph.
After her retirement from the stage Sarah developed her life-long interest in choreography and established herself as a sought-after teacher of classical technique encompassing the RAD, Cecchetti, ISTD, Borovansky, and Vaganova methodologies.
Many of her long-term students have blossomed into accomplished professional dancers with some of the world’s leading ballet companies.
Sarah is a committed educator and mentor for elite young dancers and is passionate about creating meaningful pathways and training and development opportunities for Australia’s next generation of dance artists.
